Located on 33rd street in Ft. Lauderdale, 33 & Dine blends in with the subdued nature of the sleepy street filled with boutiques, jazz clubs and of course restaurants. 33 & Dine fine French food in a relaxing setting as if one were in the Latin Quarter in Paris.
While the food look on the expensive side, the true heart and soul of the menu is the crepes. Ranging from chicken and mushroom to garlic bacon with cheese, 33 & Dine’s crepes stand out as the premier attraction. The sheer size of their crepes trumps any other dinner crepe one typically sees. In addition to the crepe itself a generous side salad is lovingly garnished with a delicious complementing balsamic vinaigrette. Each crepe is cooked just enough not to be overly crispy nor undercooked to be gooey, but rather to have a nice flaky backdrop to the true star of the show, the filling. 33 & Dine does not skimp on the meat or cheese like other restaurants where it’s more outside than inside. One will be amazed to see just how filling one bite is and expect leftovers.
Other than crepes, 33 & Dine offers dishes like herb roasted chicken or veal which are expected for an upper-class French restaurant and accordingly priced. The wine list is as expansive as one would expect for a French eatery with a glass of wine averaging $8-10 a glass and a bottle around 30. The setting is just as enjoyable as the crepe as the aesthetics of a small French cafe is fully realized in its décor and ambiance. While there is outside seating, it is quite limited and more often than not one will be eating inside but the ambiance and the small slice of France inside 33 & Dine seeks to create makes it an nonissue.
33 & Dine mostly operates as a dinner place with the hours of 5 p.m.-11:00 p.m. reflecting that but there is no real hint of urgency as there is plenty of space available and rather quiet on a weekday evening. 33 & Dine ultimately succeeds in providing a French bistro experience to Fort Lauderdale.
